Zero Clearance Fireplaces
Barnhill Chimney Company is proud to carry the following lines of zero-clearance fireplaces:
A zero-clearance fireplace (“zero-clearance” means that it has its own insulation, and needs zero inches of clearance — or distance — from combustible materials in the home) is a self-contained, prefabricated firebox which is designed to be installed almost anywhere. It does require a chimney for venting, but it does not need a huge, pre-installed masonry chimney or significant amounts of insulation. A zero-clearance fireplace can be installed in bedrooms, bathrooms, anywhere that needs a little extra warmth or which could just use the ambiance of a roaring fire. They can use either wood or natural/propane gas fuel.
If you are looking to install a fireplace in an existing room which does not have a chimney or firebox already installed, a zero-clearance fireplace is a great choice. They work well in small rooms and even in some mobile homes.
Venting options vary by model and application; generally a few sections of double-wall, rigid stainless steel chimney pipe will be run out of the unit and up through the roof. This chimney pipe can be concealed in a traditional masonry or vinyl siding chimney chase or simply left as is.
If there is a pre-existing chimney and fireplace in the room you wish to heat, you may wish to install a wood burning or gas insert instead of a zero clearance fireplace.
